5 Ideas for Getting Involved in Movember

Posted on 29th October 2016 by Luke Wilkinson

If you've noticed more facial hair sprouting around the neighborhood than usual, you can rest assured that it is all in the name of a great cause.

Movember is a global movement that promotes growing mustaches to raise awareness about men's health issues.

As grooming professionals, Movember is a great chance to give back to the community, and also have a little fun.

Here are some ideas for how to make the most of it in your business.

1. Get your team in on the fun

Get your team in on it by having them set up their own Mo Bro or Mo Sista page and offer to match the funds they raise to donate to the Movember Foundation. Bonus points if they are game for trying out an eye-catching mo style that will get your clients talking.

2. Mo promos

If you offer male grooming services, why not run a promo just for Movember? You could donate a percentage of each beard or mustache trim to charity, or offer free facial hair styling with every cut for clients who donate to your Movember cause.

3. #movember

Movember is to social media what wax is to a perfectly-sculpted mustache. The before and after snaps make incredible social content that your community will love. So don't be shy to splash your gorgeous mo-styles across Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram. Want to make your posts stand out even more? Try creating videos instead of your standard photos, using a tool like Boomerang.

4. ‘Stache of the week

Promote a different celebrity ‘stache style each week as an novelty service menu addition. Week one could be the Hulk Hogan, week two the Freddie Mercury, week three the Charlie Chaplain.. you get the idea!

5. May the best mo win

Who has the finest mo of them all? Run a competition showcasing your client's most fabulous and noteworthy mustache, share their photos on social media, and let your followers decide the winner. The mo with the most likes, comments or shares wins a fabulous prize (ask your product companies if they will donate one).
