How many students can I have in the system?
As many as you can fit in your school! Shortcuts accommodates academies with
hundreds of students at a time and we train you on how to manage the students
that come through the school so you maintain a clean and efficient system as
time goes on. There are also different configuration options designed by Shortcuts
to assist the different types of programs and setups at each individual school.
What are the hardware requirements for the computer?
Shortcuts has
certain basic recommendations for running a system at your front desk, but depending
on the size of the school it can vary slightly. The
best idea is to contact your Shortcuts Salon & Spa Software Consultant
before making any decisions regarding hardware.
How does the FAME integration work with Shortcuts? What information is passed
between the 2 programs?
Shortcuts has developed a full integration between the two programs in order
to offer schools an even more premium service. Visit the FAME integration page

How long after I order the software, can I get my team trained?
The process typically takes approximately four weeks for the full customization,
setup, testing and training.
Is it better to have FAME training or Shortcuts training first when implementing
a new school?
Depending on what your individual needs are, you could do one before the other
or both at the same time. We usually recommend you get started with FAME first,
then starting with Shortcuts at least one month before opening the floor in
order to get everything set-up and tested properly.
Can this system manage my inventory and retail sales?
Yes! This is one of the great benefits of running an effective front desk system.
Not only does it expose students to business concepts and salon or spa software,
it also places an emphasis on retail and inventory. Systems can be built
in to encourage students to recommend products and understand the importance
of retail to any salon or spa business.
Can this keep track of Student hours?Yes, there is a built in time clock along with security PINs and swipe card
capabilities. Shortcuts is also in the process of integrating with Galaxy
time-clock systems in order to incorporate more sophisticated time tracking
needs.
Does this keep track of the student services performed?Yes, again this is one of the major benefits of using Shortcuts as the transaction
at the point-of-sale is always credited to the student and it also tracks
the grade associated with the service. reports can then be generated to view
services done.
If we do not book appointments, how would we use Shortcuts at the POS?Shortcuts
has a lot of clients that are walk-in based businesses. Using the Shortcuts
Walk-in
Manager, the flow of client traffic throughout the school
can be managed along with times of services and availability of students

Can it operate off of a wireless network?Yes, Shortcuts will operate on a wireless network but we recommend setting
up a hard-wired network in order to ensure security and stability of your
internet connection.
Is there Fingerprint clocking in?This is in development and testing and will be released in our next release
in 2008.
Does it track Gift Certificates?Yes, gift certificates and gift cards are an excellent way to market your school
along with rewarding your top clients. Shortcuts has a built-in feature that
tracks gift certificates and processes them at the point-of-sale.
If we book by chairs and not students, can we use Shortcuts appointment book?Yes, definitely. This is a common setup for schools and we can customize this
for you in the software so it will suit your business.
How can we label the level of the student so that we know automatically when
booking the appointment who is capable of doing the service?Shortcuts does this in the background to ensure that there is no room for
error when booking numerous students. Our experienced educators will also spend
time
with you to understand your school model and then customize the software to
fit the various levels of capabilities and how you move them through different
phases, etc.
How easy is it to create blocks of students’ schedules in the
appointment book?Very
easy, scheduling tasks and recurring appointments is as simple as a few clicks.
