Problem:
The Shortcuts application opens up fine on the server computer, but when opening up Shortcuts on the Client computer an error occurs:

“Database is controlled by another Net or lck files”

Solution:
Cause 1: There might be *.net or *.lck files on the computers that are stopping Shortcuts from opening

1. Hit OK on the message, it should disappear off the screen. If you are running a network then exit Shortcuts and shut down all computers.

2. Restart the Server/Main computer only

3. Hit the Windows Start Button (or hold down Ctrl and then press Esc on your keyboard)

4. Select Search, and then select All Files or Folders

5. In the File name box type *.net

6. In the Look in box select Local Hard Drives (C:) and then hit Search

7. The system will come up with any net files it finds, you need to delete the following file Pdoxusrs.net (to delete the file, simply click on it so it is highlighted and then hit Delete on your keyboard)

8. Now do the same again for *.lck files, delete any files it finds

9. Now restart Shortcuts, if running a network, restart the other computers now.

Cause 2: Incorrect Net directory

1. Exit Shortcuts on all computers
2. On the server computer Hit the Windows Start button (or hold down Ctrl and then press Esc)
3. Select Workshop
4. Check the Net Dir, it should be: C:\
5. Hit Done to exit the Workshop screen
6. Now check the Net Dir on the client computes following the same instructions above the Net Dir should be: \\Server\C

Note: In the registry the Private directory should state C:\Private and not the Server UNC otherwise the net and lck files will repeatedly cause issues.
