Category: Configuration - Software Added: 30/06/2004
Article Rating: (5.0) By: 1 users Views: 2260
Article#: KB2269
Article Date: 25/02/02
Version: N/A

Problem:
What size and type should the image be?

Solution:

Employee Photo 100x100 pixels 256 colours Bmp file
Client Photo History Any Size Any colours Bmp file or Jpeg file
Company/Lines Photo 80x80 pixels 256 colours Bmp file
Service Category Photo 80x80 pixels 256 colours Bmp file

1. Firstly scan the image into the computer, then select the area of the image you want i.e. for the employee's photo you need the head and shoulders.

2. After scanning the image you must convert the image to the correct colour eg 256 colours or indexed colour. Usually when you scan an image the default colour depth is 16 million colours you MUST change this to 256 colours or the image will NOT work in Shortcuts, except for Client Photo History which can be any colour.

3. With most Shortcut images you will notice the background is grey, this has to be done manually by rubbing out or erasing the background. The colour value used by Shortcuts is R:192 G:192 B:192. this is easily changed in any graphical editing software.

The 2 major points that must be remembered are to convert all images to the correct colours and the image size MUST be the correct pixels as mentioned above. Two programs's recommended and used by Shortcuts is Adobe Photoshop (which comes with most scanners) and Paint Shop Pro 4.0, you can download working versions of this software from the Shortcuts homepage.
